The head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak held a meeting with the European Union Commissioner for Defense and Space Andryus Kubilyus, who has been occupying this newly created position in the European Commission since December 1. The commissioner was also accompanied by the Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine Katarina Maternova, head of the cabinet of the EU Commissioner for Defense and Space Simonas Satunas and member of the cabinet of the EU Commissioner for Defense and Space Ramunas Stanionis.
The Ukrainian side was also represented at the meeting by advisers to the Head of the Office of the Head of State, Daria Zarivna and Oleksandr Bevz.
“We know you well and are grateful for everything you have already done and continue to do for Ukraine. I am sure that in this position you will continue to help our country until the end of this war. And also on the way to full membership in the EU,” emphasized Andriy Yermak.
He also added that Europe’s clear and defined policy of supporting Ukraine and collective security is one of the key factors in achieving a just peace.
During the meeting, they discussed the situation on the battlefield, the priority needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense.
The head of the Office of the Head of State talked about his recent meetings with representatives of the current and future administrations of the President of the USA. Andrii Yermak emphasized that the fruitful cooperation of European countries with the United States of America is very important now, in particular regarding support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.
“I believe that we have every chance to end this war with a just peace,” said the head of the President’s Office.
In addition, Andriy Yermak and Andryus Kubilyus discussed ways to effectively counter Russian propaganda. After all, it affects, in particular, how Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine is perceived in Europe and the world.
The European Commissioner noted that Ukraine protects not only itself, but also the entire European continent.
“We all want peace to come as soon as possible. But, of course, we are looking for ways to achieve peace through force,” Andryus Kubilyus emphasized.
