Defender of the national team of Ukraine Vitaly Mikolenko gave an assessment of the victory over Iceland 2:0 and his role in the national team.
“Emotions are positive. I felt such a thrill when the second goal was scored… I looked at the stands – it’s a thrill to see everything. Save Trubin? Of course, Anatoly is well done, but he is not the only one.”
“Am I the leader of the national team? I caught myself thinking that before I somehow worried more about myself, but now I have the impression that I am responsible not only for myself, but for the team. I don’t know if I can be called a leader,” said Mykolenko.
The Ukrainian national team finished the group stage of the World Cup 2026 selection in second place and will now have to win two matches in March to make it to the final part.
