Head coach of the Turkish national team Vincenzo Montella commented on the draw against the Spanish national team (2:2) in the qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup:
“This match makes me very proud of the spirit they showed on the pitch. It was a match of victims. I told the boys last night that I believe in them and we fielded a competitive team for this type of match… No matter who plays, our level of competitiveness is high.
Denis Gul? He is a young guy who is growing very fast. He is a player who is still developing and has to become more perfect. He has a lot of room for improvement and he has the desire to do so.
Whether this match will give us confidence, I don’t know. It’s important not to get carried away with what might happen… We have two finals to play and to play the second one you have to win the first one. You can win in any way – the main thing is to win.”
