VIDEO. A 13-year-old Arsenal football player set a record and went down in history

Young player “Arsenal” Luis Munoz became the youngest football player in history to ever take the field in UEFA Youth League.

The 13-year-old midfielder made his debut on Wednesday as a substitute for the Under-19s in a 4-2 win against Bayern Munich at Meadow Park.

At the age of 13 years and 343 days, Munoz broke the previous record held by Liam Payas, who played for Lincoln Red Imps last year at the age of 14 years and 93 days.

For Munoz, this is far from the first experience of playing with older opponents. In September he received a call-up to the England U-15 team, and this month he played for Arsenal’s U-16 team, which won the country’s youth Premier League.

In the match against “Bavaria” he appeared on the field five minutes before the end of the regular time, replacing the author of one of the goals of Kieran Thompson and finishing the match in the position of the attacker.

Munoz is regarded as one of the most promising players in Arsenal’s academy and he wasn’t the only young talent to catch the eye in this match.
