– We are all happy for Oleksandr, for him moving to Ajax is a good step, he said in a conversation with a Sport.ua correspondent. – Dutch football is more technical, and in terms of tactics, I think it will suit him. I hope Zinchenko will achieve success with this club.
– What is “Ajax” now?
– With the arrival of Jordi Cruyff, one should really hope that a new era is beginning for this club. The era of revival of its glorious traditions. After all, for a long time, “Ajax” was “down”, so now the team needs to get back to the leading positions. Cruyff Jr. is respected by many, primarily thanks to his legendary father. That is why there is hope that this coach will be able to revive Ajax. This club has its own philosophy, well-organized work with children. Perhaps, inviting Zinchenko to his team, Jordi Cruyff knows something that I don’t (smiles). The fans expect that in the near future, Ajax will become the Ajax that everyone has come to know.
– In your opinion, in what position is Zinchenko seen – in the center or on the left?
– Knowing his qualities and taking into account the experience of performances in the English Premier League for such clubs as “Manchester City” and “Arsenal”, I would use him in the center of the field. Zinchenko is calm in working with the ball. It seems to me that he could become a leader in the combination of attack and defense. This player knows how to hold the ball, orients himself well in the situation. So I think that he was taken to the Amsterdam club to play in the center of the midfield. After all, why does “Ajax” have such an experienced football player for the position of left defender? One of the young footballers could bet on her, right?
– Do you think that the fact that Oleksandr Zinchenko did not manage to play for “Nottingham Forest” means that he has exhausted himself in England?
– English football is difficult in itself. It has a tight and dynamic schedule – teams play every third day. Apparently, Oleksandr was not ready for such a system. Or maybe some other circumstances influenced it. I don’t know him personally, so it’s difficult for me to draw certain conclusions about what exactly affected Zinchenko’s playing affairs in this English club. But no matter what, they don’t come to Manchester City just like that. Perhaps at this stage he made the right decision – to become the leader of “Ajax” in order to prove to everyone that “Nottingham Forest” made a mistake by not letting him show himself. Zinchenko’s previous English club, Arsenal, plays in roughly the same style as Ajax. Who knows, maybe Oleksandr really planned for himself to become a legend of this club.
– In the event that Jordi Cruyff entrusts a stable place in the base of “Ajax” to a Ukrainian, he will have the opportunity to have constant game practice. And this is very important in view of Zinchenko’s prospects in our national team in the semi-finals of the World Cup playoffs.
– I think that, playing in the same “Arsenal”, he probably lacked those leadership qualities that are so necessary for a player. However, the London club really had real blocks of football, players of a very high level. So, in the event that Zinchenko becomes a real leader in Ajax, these qualities inherent in him before will be awakened in the game for the national team. In this case, he will really be able to help the Ukrainian national team.
