The match of the 1/8 finals in Leon presented a real extravaganza of goals already in the first half, when 6 goals were scored.
The hosts took the lead twice thanks to Calero’s double and Sobrino’s converted penalty, but the Basques responded each time. Gurusetha scored a brace and Sunset equalized before the break, also from the 11-meter mark.
The teams did not score in the second half, so the match went into extra time. The fate of the confrontation was decided in the 104th minute, when Unai Gomez converted a penalty and brought victory to Athletic (4:3 d.h.).
