Mykolenko’s football route began at the Dynamo Kyiv Academy. On May 29, 2016, Vitaliy made his debut for Dynamo U-19, and already on August 20, 2017-for the main composition of “White-blue” in the match of the Championship against Kamyanskaya “Steel”.
Ukrainian Fulbeck scored his first goal in professional football at the goal of the French “Renna” in the Europa League match.
According to the results of the 2018/19 season, Vitaliy was recognized as the best young player of the Ukrainian Championship.
On September 19, 2020, Mykolenko in a home match against Lviv entered the Kapitan dressing field and became the second youngest captain in the history of the Ukrainian Championship (21 years, 113 days).
In the composition of “Kyivans” Vitaliy spent 132 matches in all competitions, and also scored 7 scored balls and 20 productive gears.
The next stop in the career of the Ukrainian was the English Everton, whose player Vitaliy became January 1, 2022. The transfer amount amounted to approximately 23.5 million euros and the contract was signed by June 2026.
Mykolenko spent the first match in Irishitsa on January 8, 2022 against Galle City in the Cup of England (3: 2).

The 2023/24 season was full of injuries for the Ukrainian, which made it missing the start and end of the season. In total, Mykolenko took part in 34 duels in the 2023/24 season.
At the club level, Mykolenko played 261 matches, scored 11 goals, gave 23 assistants and won 4 trophies: the Ukrainian Championship, two Cups of Ukraine and the Super Cup of Ukraine.
As part of the national team of Ukraine, 19-year-old Vitaliy made his debut on November 20, 2018 in a friendly match against Turkey (0-0). He spent his first official match in the national team on March 22, 2019 – against the Portugal national team (0-0).
In the international arena as part of the national team of Ukraine Mykolenko played 48 matches, scored one goal and gave three assistants.
This season, Vitaliy spent 37 matches, scoring one ball and three productive gears. Everton, following the 2024/25 campaign, was ranked 13th in the APL standings.
