As reported by L’Equipe, if Boavista does not settle its financial debts, the court will consider the club insolvent, which will lead to the liquidation of the team.
The team’s only championship in the Portuguese championship, which they won in the 2000/01 season, should also be annulled.
The club will try to agree on deferred payment of debts, however, such an option looks unlikely.
One of the culprits of the situation is club shareholder Gerard Lopez. This is not the first time a businessman from Luxembourg destroys football teams. Earlier, the official’s actions brought Lille to a major economic crisis. Later, Lopez turned the second French club “Bordeaux” into an amateur team.
“Boavishta” takes the 14th place in Primeira. The team has only nine points.
