The fate of the championship and Khacherida’s “double”. All own goals of the Classic derby

The passions of the 203rd All-Ukrainian Classic Derby echoed. “Shakhtar” was able to take revenge for the defeat in the Cup in the framework of the championship of Ukraine, and finally the question about the winner was removed by a “spectacular” own goal performed by Vladyslav Kabaev. It is worth saying that in the rich history of official matches of the most principled confrontation of Ukrainian football, which dates back to 1938, goals into the own goal did not happen too often, only 14 times, and therefore almost all of them were resonant.

It is interesting that the author of the first own goal was still far from the Classic derby, the defender of Stakhanovets from Stalino. Mykola Krasiuk at the end of the 1940 USSR championship, he first hit his own goal in the 12th minute, and in the middle of the second half he won this goal. The match ended 1:1, and Krasyuk scored a kind of double, although later in this confrontation, the doubles will be much more resonant. About them below.

Dynamo’s first Klassichny own goal was born ten years later, in the 1950 USSR Championship match. Its author is a defender Abram Lerman. However, at that moment (75th minute) the Kyivans were leading 4:0 and Abram’s failure only dampened the score.

The next own goal occurred 18 years later, in the 1968 USSR championship match. A cut into the own goal from the defender of “miners” Alexander Pollak turned out to be decisive in the meeting: by the 74th minute the score was 2:2 (doubles were exchanged between Glodianis from Donetsk and Turyanchyk from Kyiv). Thanks to this opponent’s own goal, Viktor Maslov’s team scored another two points and came closer to the third championship in a row.

Shakhtar’s defender scored two more goals in his own goal of the Soviet era Oleksiy Drozdenko in the match of the 1970 USSR championship (Dynamo won 3:0, an own goal summed up the result) and Kyiv midfielder Anatoly Konkov in the 1978 USSR Championship. By the 68th minute, thanks to Blokhin’s goal, “Dynamo” led 1:0. A cut from Konkov turned out to be a turning point, because nine minutes later, Volodymyr Rogovskyi put Shakhtar ahead and gave the team a 2:1 away victory.

It so happened that the next All-Ukrainian classic derby after five scoop own goals had to wait for 34 years. There were two of them then.

The match, which took place on June 3, 2002, had the status of gold. After the death of Valery Lobanovskyi, “Dynamo” lost a five-point advantage in the championship over “miners” and went to Donetsk without the right to make a mistake. And there were two fatal mistakes that determined Shakhtar’s advantage. He made the first one a minute before the end of the first half Sergey Fedorovwho in a rather simple situation, being in front of his own goal, kicked the ball into the “nine” of Vitaliy Reva’s goal.

Another own goal in that match set the final score (2:0) and actually guaranteed Shakhtar’s first ever championship. True, you are guilty Goran Gavrancic in that goal compared to Fedorov much less. “Shakhtar” played a free kick within the penalty area. Tymoshchuk (forgive the Lord) shot hard and the ball caught the Serb and flew into the net.

And immediately after the final whistle, another own goal almost happened. That is when Marina Mefodiivna did not bring a young journalist on the air, who gathered around him distinguished guests and did not even recognize one of them. Fortunately, Boris Viktorovych was nearby, who told me everything. And time showed that the young journalist was not fired, and therefore the loud media own goal did not take place.

But an own goal Adrian Pukanych a year later, in May 2003, at the Lobanovsky Stadium in Kyiv, he proved decisive and brought Dynamo a 2:1 victory over Shakhtar.

Another Klassikny mine own goal was born in one of the main matches in the history of the Donetsk club. April 30, 2009, the first semi-final match of the UEFA Cup at the Lobanovsky Stadium in Kyiv. At the 22nd minute Dmytro Chygrynskyiguarding Artem Milevskyi, cut the ball into Andriy Pyatov’s goal after Oleksandr Aliyev’s cross from the free kick. Fortunately for the miners, Fernandinho scored this goal in the second half, and in Donetsk “Shakhtar” celebrated a 2:1 victory and thus took the penultimate step towards the first Eurotrophy in the club’s history.

On May 15, 2014, another Shakhtar defender scored an own goal Oleksandr Kucher and he contributed to a certain extent to the successful start of the coaching career of Serhiy Rebrov, who shortly before replaced Oleg Blokhin as the Kyiv coach. It was the final of the Cup of Ukraine in Poltava, and a cut from Kucher, who was fighting for the ball with Domagoi Vida, helped Kyiv to open the scoring at the end of the first half. And three minutes later, Vida himself scored for the second time. “Dynamo” won 2:1 and thus was able to win the first trophy in three years.

And on December 12, 2016, under the coaching of the same Rebrov, the first and only double in the history of Classics happened in their own goal. Nine years ago, poor Artur Rudka, who had not yet been arrested while trying to leave Ukraine illegally, struck twice in the framework of the national championship Evgeny Khacheridi. Yevgeny’s first own goal, when he headed under the crossbar of his own goal after a cross from a free kick, helped Shakhtar win back the ball scored in the first minute by Junior Moraes, who was still from Dynamo, three minutes later. And Khacheridi’s second cut at the end of the match with a score of 2:3 actually removed the question of the winner. “Dynamo” lost that match 3:4 and began to lag hopelessly behind “Shakhtar” in the championship of Ukraine.

On May 19, 2018, an own goal by a Georgian Davyd Khocholava in the 56th minute of the Kyiv match of the Ukrainian championship, he turned out to be the winner for “Dynamo” (2:1). But that victory did not affect anything, because before the last round, Shakhtar had already won the title and had a nine-point advantage over the Kyiv team.

And here it is – November 2, 2025, the 11th round of the Premier League. Vladyslav Kabaev scored obviously the most impressive of all the above listed own goals and summed up Shakhtar’s victory at Arena Lviv. After this victory, the “miners” established a four-point gap for the first time in the season. Time will tell if he becomes decisive.

The last one was Onyshchenko or the Art of leaving on time in a Dynamo manner
