In Kharkiv, a sentence was issued in the case of concealing the circumstances of a deadly road accident, which occurred on February 9, 2022 on the Kiev – Kharkiv – Dovzhansky highway near Chuguev with the participation of a car from Alexander Yaroslavsky, the owner of Kharkiv Metalist.
Two men – Andriy Ligus and Alexander Berezhny, who found the investigation involved in the concealment of the truth about the accident – were on the bench of the defendants.
According to the investigation, Mercedes-Benz G-63 AMG was moving at a speed of 113 km/h and fatally injured a pedestrian that was on the road. The driver fled from the scene, leaving the person in a critical condition.
After the accident, he called the acquaintance and asked to overtake another car, and also suggested that he guilty. He agreed and the next morning with a lawyer appeared in the police.
However, the investigation found that the man who confessed to the accident could not be behind the wheel. Both involved cases were charged with conscious concealment of the crime, and they found guilt in court.
Despite the fact of the crime, the court released both convicts from the real serving of the sentence, appointing three years conditionally with a probation for one year. They also have to compensate for more than UAH 275 thousand expenses for expertise. The sentence can be appealed for 30 days.
More than three years have passed since the accident to announce the sentence, the limitation period has expired to prosecute. Because of this, the prosecution of leaving the victim was removed from the driver.
Meanwhile, the main investigation into a deadly accident with the participation of a car from the motorcade of Alexander Yaroslavsky is ongoing.
