He started playing football in Lugansk. He spoke to the position of the defender. In 1978 he made his debut for Dawn in the High League of the USSR Championship. Almost immediately he was paid attention to Dynamo Kiev.
Already next season Zhuravlev became a player of one of the strongest clubs of the USSR. For five years he was the main player of the team, twice became the champion of the Soviet Union and won the country’s Cup.
Subsequently, the football player began with problems with a sports regime, and in 1984 he was dismissed from the team.
Almost immediately Zhuravlev was invited to Shakhtar Donetsk, but he rarely played for Miners.
Also in his career there were speeches for Nstyra, Podillya, Metalist and Cherkasy Dnipro.
After his career, he worked as a child coach in Saudi Arabia, and since 2004 he became a mentor at Dynamo Kyiv DUFS. Among his pupils are Timur Partzwania, Dmitry Hlobas and Yevgeny Morozenko.
