Sergey BALTACHA: “In Kharkiv, they locked me in a hotel and did not let me into Dynamo”

The legendary ex-player of Kyiv “Dynamo” Sergey Baltacha recalled how Kharkiv’s “Metalist” did not let go of his ego in Kyiv “Dynamo”.

“It was the end of 1976. I am invited by the team that just an hour ago won the European Cup. It was the dream of every football player to join Dynamo. I remember how they locked me in a hotel room in Kharkov and did not let me go.

I really wanted to play for Dynamo. I spent a lot of energy on individual training. I worked overtime.

Especially then, to get into the golden team was something incredible.

Coaches came to Metallyst and refused. They said that they would not take me back, even the premiums were not paid. Until today, they owe me 5 thousand rubles,” said Baltacha.

The defender spent 11 seasons in the Kyiv club, during which he played 245 matches and scored 6 goals.
