Answering a question about romance, the eight-time winner of the Golden Ball admitted that he is not used to vividly showing his feelings, but he appreciates attention to details.
“I’m not too demonstrative, but I have my romantic side. I love little things. Anto and I hardly see each other during the day, and I like to leave her a small gift,” Messi said.
The football player noted that sometimes he is restrained in his emotions, but for him love is manifested in routine and care. According to him, Antonella often prepares him training clothes – a simple but revealing gesture of their partnership.
The couple’s story began long before Messi’s world fame.
“We were kids, I was in love with her, but we just called ourselves friends. I was 9 or 10 years old,” he recalls.
Despite the distance, their connection did not disappear and eventually grew into a serious relationship. For the first time, Messi talked about his first kiss with Antonella.
“I knew at that point it was going to be forever. This is the woman of my life. Everything happened when it was supposed to happen,” he admitted.
The most difficult stage was Antonela’s move to Barcelona.
“She was young, she was studying, she had her own life. The decision to go with me was not easy,” said Messi.
