One of the main contenders for entry to the UPL received a transfer ban

Odesa «Chornomorets» received a transfer ban from FIFA – information about the punishment from the International Football Federation appeared in the official list of clubs that are prohibited from registering new players.

The representative of the First League of Ukraine will not be able to sign and register new football players during the next three transfer windows. The decision came into force on Wednesday, December 10.

The reason for the restrictions was the financial debts of the “sailors” to former players and members of the coaching staff.

In the current season, Oleksandr Kucher’s wards scored 38 points and placed third in the tournament table. The Odesa team is ahead of Kyiv’s Left Bank (39 points) and Chernivtsi’s Bukovyna (48 points).

In the last match, “Chornomorets” suffered an unexpected crushing defeat on the road against Poltava “Vorskla” (0:3). The next official match of the “sailors” will take place already in 2026 – on March 21, the team will play against Yuksa in the home arena.

The candidate for entry into the UPL is planning a large-scale personnel purge
