On December 23, the match of the 1st round of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations will be held at the Sportive de Fes Complex, in which the national teams of Nigeria and Tanzania will play. The match will start at 19:30 Kyiv time.

Nigeria

The team was, perhaps, the first real giant of African football, which began to show something not only at the continental level, but also at the world level – at the World Cup and the Olympics. But it was not possible to go to the tournament next year in North America. The football players tried to make amends after an unsuccessful start in the qualification, and even pushed Benin, due to its defeat in the last round, moving the leader to fourth place.

This made it possible to go to face-to-face matches. And there they even managed to squeeze the now strong Gabon in the extra time – they turned 1:1 into 4:1. But then, in the decisive match, DR Congo conceded on penalty kicks. And already in December, Egypt’s self-esteem was raised – it was eliminated from the Arab Cup after the group stage, but Salah and company scored 2:1 with the Nigerians.

Tanzania

The national team has never made it to the World Cup. And there was only one participation at the Cannes Film Festival until 2019. And now it will be the third participation in four such tournaments, although, so far, it has never been possible to win at least one match at such Cups.

Hardly much can be expected from the team now. Yes, she made it to the next Cannes. But in the selection for the World Cup, mediocre results were shown again: three victories and ten points in eight matches, so that in the group the footballers finished third there, lagging behind not only Morocco, but also Niger, and the latter scored five points more. And in autumn friendlies, they lost to Iran and even Kuwait.
