Nicaragua expressed the protest of FIFA from the action

Nicaragua Football Federation (Fenifut) expressed a decisive protest to the authorities of Costa Rica and the International Football Federation (FIFA) in connection with the incident, which occurred a few minutes before the beginning of the match in the framework of the qualification to the World Cup between the Nicaragua and Costa Rica national teams.

The meeting took place on October 13 at the national stadium and ended with a confident victory of the owners (4: 1).

The Federation described the incident as a “absolutely inappropriate” after law enforcement officers have broken into the nicaragua national team. The department emphasized that these actions created an atmosphere of tension, embarrassment and instability for both the player and the entire team.

The organization added that the team was located in Costa Rica from Saturday evening, so the authorities were famous persons and the location of all players.

“It is unacceptable and unjustified that the actions of the police and judicial authorities were taken only a few minutes before the start of the sports event, which directly influenced the preparation and performance of the national team,” the official document said.

Earlier it was reported that Costa-Rican police broke into the locker room of the national team of Nicaragua before the selection match at the 2026 World Cup. A minutes before the team’s exit to the field, police detained one of Nicaragua’s players because of alimony – the name of the athlete is unknown.
