– There was information about the interest in your person from Arne Slot and “Liverpool”, as well as other football clubs. How can you comment on this?
– Several clubs have shown interest, and I’m glad to hear about it, but I’m not the kind of person who will change everything just like that. Now I am loyal to Shakhtar club. It would have been very easy for me to leave after we won the double, I knew that the second year would be more difficult and demanding than the first, but I chose this club with my heart, because I am very committed to this project and then I felt that I could not leave the club in such a moment This project is very interesting, sometimes very complex, very demanding, but also very good at the same time, and I like such challenges. I think there is more to work on, and I want to take further steps with the club to develop the players to the highest level and achieve new successes, so I finally decided to stay. I repeat, as a coach, it is nice to hear about this, but I am not the kind of person who will leave just like that.
– You joined Shakhtar during a full-scale invasion and faced the war in Ukraine firsthand. What is your own experience during this time and what can you say in support of all Ukrainians?
– Of course, I knew about the situation before I came to the club, but being here and experiencing it, I really felt what it meant. In fact, what is happening in the country is very sad and terrible. I can only say that I, unfortunately, also faced this as a small boy in the former Yugoslavia when the war began. Keep hope, fight to the last, be strong, be brave and love your country with all your heart. Hope that soon everything will be over and that we will be able to live together in normal conditions, that children will be able to grow up in normal conditions, that Ukraine will be one of the most beautiful countries in Europe. I really felt the beauty and spirit of people in Ukraine, and I am very grateful.
