Head coach of Benfica Jose Mourinho reacted to the elimination of the “Eagles” from the Portuguese League Cup at the semi-final stage by Braga (1:3)
“From a technical point of view, it was an obvious failure: the players made mistakes in elementary situations. There was a stretch where, right in front of my bench, three different players took turns making cross-passes in a low block near their own goal
We can state that the first half remained for Braga, and the second – for us. A fair result could have been a draw, but it turned out differently. In the end, it wasn’t Braga who won – it was us who lost,” said Jose.
In the final, on January 10, Braga will play against Vitoria Guimarães, for which Ukrainian defender Orest Lebedenko is playing. Benfica will play its next match on January 14 against Porto in the 1/4 finals of the Portuguese Cup.
