Problems for Ukrainians began before the starting whistle. One of the leaders of the team, Gennady Sinchuk, had to miss the second match in a row. FIFA found him guilty of violating Article 13.1 of the Disciplinary Code – Gennady was in a technical zone during a duel with a paraguy, which is forbidden for disqualified players. Compared to the previous game, Dmitry Mikhailenko made three replacements – all in the attacking line. Instead of Shevchenko, Pyschura and Digtyar, the first minutes came to the field, a chess, Ponomarenko and Derkach.
The beginning of the match for Ukraine was encouraging. Already in the debut, Crevsun and Caraman have made a few beats, making it clear that the team was set to act actively. However, reality quickly made its adjustments. The Spaniards took the initiative, imposed control of the ball and began to methodically shake Ukraine’s defense. In the middle of the half, their perseverance gave results. After the drawing of the corner Merino hung in the penalty area, where Pablo Garcia, staying without care, was shot by Krapivtsov with the second touch – 0: 1.
After the scored ball, the Spaniards were somewhat upset and focused on controlling the game. It seemed that Ukraine should go forward more actively, but the attacking game of the Mikhailenko team did not occur: too many inaccurate gears, hasty throws and losses. Most attacks ended before the opponent’s penalty. Only under the veil of the first half did the Ukrainian national team create a truly dangerous moment. Krevsun hung perfectly from Ponomarenko’s penalty, but he struck past the gate – a wonderful chance was waste.
In the second half, the Spaniards continued to control the ball, but the first truly dangerous moment was created by Ukrainians. After Vashchenko’s hit, the ball hit the defender and, changing the trajectory, flew just above the gate. The Spaniards answered their episode – Pablo Garcia could decorate a double by punching from the penalty area, but this time the ball also flew over the crossbar.
In the middle of the half, Ukrainians began to work more actively, increasingly approaching the gate of the opponent. The strokes on the gate began to appear, but there was a lack of accuracy. The game gradually switched to counter -courses – teams exchanged attacks, but the true threat was almost not reached. The last dangerous moment in the national team of Ukraine emerged at the end of the match. Pyshur received the ball in the center of the penalty area and shot through the goal, but his blow was blocked by the defenders of the Spanish national team.
Unfortunately, the U-20 national team completes its performances at the World Cup. The team fought worthy, but failed to break to the next stage. And the Spanish national team will play in the 1/4 finals with the winner of the Colombia couple – South Africa.
