The management of the Kharkov “Metallist 1925” plans to give a star Ukrainian judoka Darya Bilodid the opportunity to debut in professional football at the women’s level, reports journalist Dmitry Venkov.
According to the source, the 23-year-old athlete, who recently became the ambassador of the First League club, may get her chance in the second half of the season.
Daria Bilodid is a bronze medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games, a three-time European champion and a two-time world judo champion.
Women’s team “Metallista 1925” plays in the elite division of Ukraine and this season has 15 points in 5 matches played.
Bringing Bilodid to “Metalist 1925” is not the first example of signing a non-football star by a Ukrainian club – earlier, in a similar way, “Polesie” announced cooperation with the world-famous boxer Oleksandr Usyk.
