Died of a shared Argentine needles, loved to break the penalties

At the age of 81, the famous Argentine goalkeeper Orelando Gatti died, who had a great shake to repel penalties.

He started his career at the Atlanta Club Buenos Aires and played forward. At the age of 16, Gatti approached the coach and asked to be a goalkeeper. This was due to the fact that the young man saw the game of the outstanding goalkeeper “River Pleta” Amadeo Carris.

Since 1962 he has already played at the position of the Atlanta goalkeeper in the sixth division of the Argentina Championship. And in 1964, he was noticed by the River Play and his childhood dream became a reality. However, in this team he was not the main goalkeeper. In four seasons, he came out 77 times and decided that he needed more game practice.

In 1969 he became a player of the Argentine “Khimnasia”. Subsequently he went to the Union of Santa Fe. Having held at the club for two years, Gatti receives an invitation to play for the Huniors. Here he became a real star of Argentine football. In 1977 he helps the team win the Libertadores Cup. In the final match, Gatti repulsed her penalty. Then the team from Gatti won the intercontinental cup, and next season defended the status of the Libertadores Cup champion.

He graduated from his career in 1989.

He played 18 matches for Argentina’s national team. He was a participant in the 1966 World Cup and 1975. It should be the main goalkeeper for the 1978 World Cup, but did not get into the last moment.

He remains a record holder in the number of matches in Argentina Championship – 765. Also in his account 26 reflected penalties for his career.
