He started a playing career at the Swedish club of IFC from Norcherchening. In 1962 he made his debut for the main team, which performed in the strongest division of Sweden. During the four seasons, he became the main football player of the team and had unique medium performance statistics – 0.6 goal per game.
In 1966 he moved to Figenord. Chindvall became a real leader of attacks by the Dutch Club. In 144 matches he scored 129 goals. He became the best scorer three times.
Among the historical achievements in the Netherlands – he won the UEFA Champions Cup (the current Champions League) and became the winner of the Intercontinental Cup.
In 1971 he returned to the IFC, where he played the next four seasons, and ended his career in Gothenburg.
He played 44 matches for the Swedish national team and scored 16 goals. He performed at two world championships – in 1970 in Mexico and 1974 in Germany.
