January 6 marks the 86th anniversary of the birth of the legendary coach Valery Lobanovskyi.
In his professional career as a player, Lobanovsky played for Dynamo Kyiv (1959–64), Chernomorets Odessa (1965–66) and Shakhtar Donetsk (1967–68).
He led Dynamo Kyiv for almost 20 years (with breaks) (1973–82, 1984–90, 1997–2002), with which he won a huge number of trophies:
- six victories in the championship of the USSR;
- eight cups of the USSR;
- two cup holders’ cups;
- became the champion of Ukraine five times;
- won the Cup of Ukraine three times.
The Ukrainian Premier League reminded about the anniversary of Lobanovskyi’s birthday on social networks – “Forever in our memory”.
