The epic creation of the European Super League is officially coming to an end. In an official statement, it is reported that UEFA and Real Madrid have reached an agreement in principle regarding the future of club football on the continent.

According to the text of the statement, after months of discussions, the parties reached an agreement guided by the interests of the game. The new format of cooperation will be based on three key pillars: Participation in tournaments will be determined exclusively by sports results, which effectively eliminates the idea of a closed league.

Implementation of mechanisms that guarantee the financial stability of clubs. “UEFA, European football clubs and Real Madrid announce that they have reached an agreement for the benefit of European club football,” the official statement reads.

The most important consequence of this agreement will be the settlement of the legal conflict that has been going on for the past years. The statement emphasized: “This agreement in principle will also serve to resolve all legal disputes related to the European Super League once the final arrangements have been implemented.”

In fact, this means that after the signing of the final documents, Real Madrid will withdraw its claims against UEFA, and the Super League project in its confrontational form will finally cease to exist. The parties are moving from courtrooms to constructive cooperation within the updated system of European football.

We will remind you that recently Barcelona officially withdrew from the Super League, leaving Real Madrid as the only participant in the tournament.
