The 32-year-old forward’s current deal runs until 2027, but sources say it has a clause that allows him to leave the club this summer for around £70million. Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl recently gave a low-key comment on the situation:
“I said that we are in dialogue, but the negotiations have not started yet. We are in close contact with Harry, and further steps will be taken later,” said Max.
Despite such caution from officials, Sky Germany insider Kerry Howe notes that there is optimism at the club:
“The player constantly emphasizes that he is happy in Munich. He is very comfortable here with his family, he enjoys life, so everyone in Bavaria is convinced that he will extend his contract. I do not expect a quick decision, it will probably be made in the coming months, after the end of the season,” he reports.
Kane has been in fantastic form this season, scoring 38 goals in 35 appearances and helping Vincent Kompany’s side take a commanding lead in the Bundesliga. A move to the Middle East looks unlikely as the striker looks to win trophies in Europe.
