Arsenal centre-midfielder Mikel Merino, who has also appeared in the forward position on several occasions, has undergone surgery on his leg and has shared news about his condition.

The 29-year-old Spaniard published a photo from the hospital and left an appeal to fans on his page in social networks.

“Surgery done! I’m closer to being back. Thank you all so much for your messages and support. It really gives me more energy to face the challenge. Go!” Merino wrote on Instagram.

It will be recalled that at the beginning of February, Merino suffered a foot fracture, which forced him to miss the rest of the season. The injury has been a major loss for Arsenal in midfield.

In the current season, Mikel Merino played 33 matches in all competitions for the London club, scoring six goals and three assists.
