Girona sporting director Kike Karsel said the club received offers for their key players, including Ukrainian midfielder Viktor Tsygankov, during the winter transfer window. Despite the interest of other teams, the Catalans decided to keep the leaders in the team.

Carcel explained that the club is always open to selling footballers if it is in Girona’s interests. However, this time the situation was special:

“You know Girona is always open to selling players. This winter we had offers for Arnau and Tsygankov, but we want to extend their contracts because they are important performers. Now we are fighting for survival, so we decided not to sell them,” Carsel said.
