Among the signatories of the appeal are six representatives of the top division of the Estonian championship. We are talking about Levadia, Paide, Tammeka, Harju, Vaprus and Nymme United. In general, the initiative was supported by clubs from different levels of Estonian football.
It is noted that the president of the Estonian Football Association, Aivar Pohlak, is a member of the UEFA Executive Committee, which, according to the clubs, may affect the further consideration of the initiative.
In January, this issue was planned to be brought to the extraordinary general assembly of the Estonian Football Association. However, the meeting did not take place due to the lack of a quorum: only 29 of the organization’s 110 members were present, while at least 73 delegates are required to pass decisions.
Last fall, 13 Estonian clubs already applied to UEFA with a similar demand — to suspend financial payments to Russian teams and to review Russia’s membership in the organization.
