The 34-year-old Frenchman was supposed to sign a contract with Fenerbahce until 2028, and the transfer fee was estimated at 4 million euros. However, the Saudi club did not have time to complete the paperwork within the set deadline, which is why the deal did not take place.

Fenerbahce stated that they fulfilled all their obligations on time and uploaded the documents for registration of the transfer correctly, but the transaction could not be completed due to the mistakes of the other party – the Saudi club Al-Ittihad.

In an official statement, the club emphasized that the player’s medical examinations were carried out. Despite this, Al-Ittihad did not complete the registration process by the deadline without providing an explanation.

“We understand and share the disappointment this process has caused in our community,” Fenerbahce said. The club added that it will continue to build the team with the same determination and discipline in line with the sporting goals.

Kante has made 26 appearances for Al Ittihad in all competitions this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist.

Meanwhile, Fenerbahce is in second place in the Turkish Super League. The next match of Domenico Tedesco’s team will take place on February 5 against Erzurumspor in the Turkish Cup.
