Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior, after a strong-willed victory over West Ham (3:2), openly commented on the fans’ whistling at his team and admitted that the criticism from the stands at half-time was fully deserved.

“I have to be honest: I would have booed us in the first half myself. Our game was far from the level Chelsea should be at,” said the Blues coach after the final whistle.

After the first half of the match, the hosts trailed 0:2, causing a wave of discontent at Stamford Bridge. However, in the second half, the Londoners responded with three scored goals and won all three points:

“In the second half, the fans were fantastic. They pushed the team forward and the players felt it. That’s the kind of support we want to see, but we have to earn it with our game,” Rosenior emphasized.

The specialist admitted that the responsibility for the unstable game of the team lies primarily with him:

“It’s up to me. I have to convince people that I’m the right person for the job. It’s not about the words, it’s about the results.”

Rosenior also emphasized that he understands the ambitions of Chelsea fans:

“The fans want to win and win trophies. I want the same. But we’re building a team and it’s a process that takes time.”

Evaluating the start of his work at the head of the Blues, the coach added:

“Six wins in seven games is a good start, but we have to be more consistent. We can’t afford those first halves.”

After 24 rounds of the Premier League, Chelsea is in fourth place with 40 points. The team will play its next match in the English League Cup against Arsenal on Monday, February 3.
