The Ukrainian left defender will fly to Amsterdam already on Friday, January 30, to undergo a medical examination and sign a contract until the end of the season. The amount of the transfer will be 1.5 million euros, as well as additional payments related to the club’s participation in the Champions League.

Zinchenko spent the first part of the season on loan at Nottingham Forest, playing 10 matches in all competitions without scoring. The day before, the clubs agreed on the early termination of the lease agreement.
The Ukrainian already has experience playing in the Netherlands: in 2016, he played on loan for PSV, where he played 17 matches and provided 4 assists.
According to sources, Ajax initially considered a loan option, but due to local law requiring non-EU players to earn a salary of at least €260,000, the club opted for a transfer with a system of bonuses and payments. Arsenal agreed to cover almost all of the Ukrainian’s salary remaining under the contract.
Ajax are currently third in the Eredivisie, 16 points behind leaders PSV. The Amsterdam team will play their next match against Excelsior on February 1.
