The transfer fee was around £13m, according to Sky Sports News, and the contract runs until June 30, 2031, according to Transfermarkt.
Spurs head coach Thomas Frank noted the young Brazilian’s potential, describing him as a technical and attacking fullback.
“I am very pleased that Souza has joined our team. He is a talented, promising young defender who is forward-thinking and has very good technique. I look forward to working with him and helping to develop his potential, as we believe we have acquired one of the most talented left-backs in the world who can benefit the team not only now, but also in the future.”
Souza has progressed through all stages of the Santos academy, which he joined in 2016 at the age of nine. He made his first-team debut in January of last year and played 24 matches at the senior level, including matches in the Brazilian Serie A. The defender also played 12 matches for Brazil’s U-17 youth team, which reached the quarter-finals of the Youth World Cup.
