Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini commented on the performance of the team’s rookie striker Doniello Malen, who scored in his debut match.
“A player like Malen raises the level of the team. He scores a lot of goals. He has the qualities I was looking for: he chooses the right position, both when breaking into the cut and when open passes. He finishes attacks quickly and powerfully – these traits are very important for the style of play we are trying to implement,” Gasperini said.
The coach added that the club plans to use the strengths of the Dutch forward as much as possible:
“We want to build a team that makes the most of his strengths. He has to play closer to the box.”
In Roma’s debut match against Torino, Malen scored one of the goals as the Romans won 2-0.
