The Rome club viewed the 23-year-old Romanian as a priority target to strengthen a troubled defensive line in the winter transfer window. Spurs management and head coach Thomas Frank have vetoed any potential exit for Dregushin in January.
Despite the fact that Radu is not an indispensable player in the starting lineup, the club considers him a critically important element of the rotation. Given the injuries of the main defenders (Van de Ven and Romero) and a busy calendar, the Londoners are not ready to weaken the depth of the composition.
For Roma, Dregushin looked like the perfect candidate: he has adapted well to Italian football with successful performances for Genoa, Sampdoria and Juventus. However, Wolves will now be forced to turn their attention to alternative options on the market as the door is closed on the Romanian’s return to the Apennines.
It will be recalled that Dregushin joined Tottenham in January 2024 for 25 million euros, rejecting the offer of Bayern Munich.
