Already in the 20th minute of the match, attacking midfielder Ademola Lukman opened the scoring after a precise shot from the center of the penalty area. Five minutes later, forward Victor Osimgen doubled the advantage (again after an assist by Akor Adams), and at the beginning of the second half he scored his second goal, making the score 3:0 from Lukman’s pass.
Akor Adams himself scored the fourth goal in the 75th minute, effectively ending the quick attack of the Nigerians.
The Nigerian national team, as favorites, completely controlled the game, creating chances and forcing the opponent to act in defense. Mozambique only threatened the goal sporadically, but neither of their two shots proved to be a problem.
Nigeria continues the fight at the CAN-2025 and will meet the winner of the pair Algeria – DR Congo in the quarterfinals.
