The deal includes a buyout option for the 19-year-old American, who has a current contract with Borussia Dortmund until June 30, 2028.
Campbell has been in the structure of Borussia Dortmund since 2022, and signed a professional contract in July 2024. He played five matches in the Bundesliga for Dortmund’s first team, and also showed himself brightly at the youth level, where he scored 19 goals and provided 20 assists in 58 matches for the U-17 and U-19 teams.
The Houston-born winger has American and Icelandic citizenship. He already has experience playing in the Icelandic championship, and has also played for the youth and youth national teams of Iceland and the USA, including taking part in the U-20 World Cup in 2025.
According to German media, the player’s rental will cost Hoffenheim approximately 1.5 million euros, and if the buyout option is activated, the total amount of the transfer may reach about 10 million euros.
