Hamburg officially announced the termination of cooperation with sporting director Stefan Kuntz. The parties reached an agreement on the early termination of the contract, which was supposed to be valid longer. This is reported by Sky Sports Deutschland.

The initiative to terminate the agreement belonged to Kunz himself. According to the source, the 63-year-old official turned to the supervisory board after the Christmas holidays, explaining his decision with personal circumstances that require full concentration outside of work. The management of the club met and agreed to end cooperation.

Kunz took over the sporting direction of Hamburg in May 2024 and played an important role in the team’s return to the Bundesliga after a gap of several years. The chairman of the supervisory board, Michael Papenfuss, thanked the official for his contribution to the development of the club and emphasized that despite personnel changes, Hamburg’s strategic course remains stable.

Kuntz himself said in his farewell address that working in the club was a special stage of his career, and the achieved promotion in the class will forever remain an important part of his professional path.

Hamburg is currently 13th in the Bundesliga table with 16 points after the first part of the season.
