Striker Rasmus Heilunn, who moved to Italian side Napoli in the summer of 2025, has finally broken his silence on his high-profile transfer. In a conversation with Sports Illustrated journalists, the football player admitted that despite his warm affection for Manchester United fans, he was forced to leave for the sake of his own career.

According to Goylund, the real reason for his departure was the signing of Slovenian forward Benjamin Seško by the Red Devils. Head coach Ruben Amorim made it clear that he sees Seshko as the main attacker, while Rasmus will have to settle for the role of a deep substitute.

“I wanted to stay and fight for my place, I love this club. But when Seško came, and I stopped even getting into the application for matches, it became clear: I need to go to play,” said the Dane.

The 22-year-old forward now looks happy under Antonio Conte. The move to Napoli (initially on loan with an obligation to buy for 50 million euros) was a breath of fresh air for him. After winning the Italian Super Cup, where Goylund played a key role, he posted a photo of the trophy on social media, captioning it: This is what a great decision looks like. Many saw it as a subtle jab at United’s management.
