Attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott’s future at Aston Villa remains uncertain over the terms of his loan deal with Liverpool.

As reported journalist David Ornstein from The Athleticthe Birmingham club will have to pay compensation if they want to terminate the loan early and return the player to Anfield.

Elliott joined Aston Villa on loan on the final day of the transfer window. The deal included a mandatory buy-out of around £35m if the midfielder played 10 games, but so far he has played just five games and has failed to even feature on the team’s application form.

Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery believes that other players are better suited to his tactical requirements, so the 22-year-old Englishman has been left out of the rotation. The situation is complicated by the fact that Elliott has already represented two clubs this season, so he does not have the right to play for a third one.

In Liverpool, it was expected that the lease would end with a full-fledged transfer, and they do not plan to lose the funds provided for in the contract. That is why the return of Elliott is possible only if financial payments are made by Aston Villa, which is currently in no hurry to make such expenses.
