According to The Athletic, Semenho chose Manchester City as his main option because of his desire to win trophies. Man City are second in the Premier League, two points behind the leaders, and have already reached the semi-finals of the League Cup. The club also continues to fight in the Champions League and the FA Cup.
Sporting director Hugo Viana is in direct talks with the striker’s team, aiming for a quick deal. The £65m release clause is only valid for the first 10 days of January, so Semenho will have to make a decision at short notice.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has indicated he wants to keep the player but admits interest from England’s top clubs makes that unlikely. The Cherries have already parted ways with a number of their stars last season, so Semenho’s departure would be a logical continuation of that trend.
Semenho will have another chance to prove himself against Chelsea on December 30 at Stamford Bridge, but Manchester City are currently the main contenders for his signature.
