Liverpool are looking to strengthen their defensive line ahead of the start of next season and have added 26-year-old Spanish defender Oscar Mingesa from Celta to their transfer list. This is reported by the Spanish media, in particular Diario AS.

Mingesa’s contract with the Vigo club runs until the end of the season, so Liverpool have the option of reaching a preliminary agreement to sign the player next summer as a free agent. According to Transfermarkt, the player’s market value is estimated at 18 million euros. He has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

A previous deal with the Spaniard could significantly reduce Celta’s chances of extending his contract, with Barcelona at risk of missing out on significant compensation as the Catalan club retained a 50% sell-on clause in the Celta deal.
