Real Sociedad officially announced the appointment of Pellegrino Matarazzo as head coach of the first team. The mentor’s contract runs until the end of the 2026/27 season. On Saturday, Matarazzo attended Real Sociedad’s game against Levante (1:1) as a guest, and his official presentation will take place on Monday at the Anoeta Stadium.

Matarazzo was born in 1977 in New Jersey. He started his career in the youth teams of Nuremberg, Germany. Joined Hoffenheim as Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant in 2017 and later took charge of Stuttgart, leading the team to the Bundesliga. After returning to Hoffenheim, he secured the club’s entry into the UEFA Europa League.

At the time of his appointment, Real Sociedad are 16th in La Liga with 17 points. The team’s next match under the leadership of Matarazzo will be held on January 4 against Atlético.
