The first half was a tense struggle without goals scored. In the 33rd minute, the hosts remained in the minority after a straight red card by Javi Simmons for a foul on Van Dijk. Despite this, Tottenham created several half-moments, but Liverpool’s defense and goalkeeper Vicario acted reliably.
The second half became more productive. In the 56th minute, Alexander Isak opened the score for Liverpool after a precise pass from Wirtz, but a few minutes later he was injured and left the field. In the 66th minute, Hugo Eketike doubled the visitors’ advantage after Frimpong’s cross. Tottenham reduced the deficit in the 83rd minute – a goal was scored by Richarlison.
In stoppage time, Christian Romero received a second yellow card and left the field, which made the game even more dramatic. However, Liverpool held on for victory until the final whistle.
After the match, Tottenham are in 13th place with 22 points, while Liverpool have moved up to fifth position with 29 points.
