On the eve of the match of the 17th round of the Spanish La Liga against Atletico Madrid, the head coach of Girona, Michel Sanchez, assessed the progress of Ukrainian winger Viktor Tsygankov and his role in the team.

At the pre-match press conference, the coach of Girona noted the remarkable progress of the Ukrainian:

“He took a step forward. He is a team player, but at a certain point he needs to feel like a leader. He thinks a lot about the team and often takes a backseat when he sees that his partners are OK.”

Michel also emphasized that Tsygankov has become more confident in the role of a key football player:

“It’s always been a bit difficult for him to be the main character, but he’s added in that aspect. He’s very important for us because he’s got a lot of talent both on and off the ball, both in attack and defence.”

In the current season, Viktor Tsygankov played 12 matches for Girona, in which he scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists. His team is currently 18th in the La Liga standings with 15 points.

The match between Girona and Atletico will take place on December 21. The meeting starts at 15:00 Kyiv time.
