The head coach of Bologna, Vincenzo Italiano, spoke after the victory in a series of post-match penalties over Inter (1:1, penalty shootout 3:2) in the Italian Super Cup semi-finals. His words are quoted by DAZN.

“It’s not easy to start with such a negative handicap (Bologna conceded in the 2nd minute – note) but we kept our composure, managed to equalize and I think our first half was excellent.

Inter played better in the second half, but a draw was a fair result and penalty shootouts are a lottery, so you have to have a bit of luck. The score was 1:1 on the field, we won the penalty shootout and it was not easy. When Inter takes control of the game, it is very difficult to win the ball. In the second half, we lost our tempo and the opposition increased the pressure, so every time we tried to counter-attack, they blocked us.

We were pressed against the goal for a long time, but we were playing against a team that is made up of champions, so we knew there would be periods like that,” Italiano said.

The Italian Super Cup final between Bologna and Napoli will take place on December 22.
