The outsider of Spain’s third division, Talavera, created problems for the “cream” – the Ukrainian goalkeeper with the captain’s armband missed twice.

In the match of the 1/16 finals of the Spanish Cup, Real Madrid beat the outsider of the third division Talavera with a score of 3:1. Despite the difference in class, the hosts made the giants nervous and for some time decently restrained the pressure of the favorite.

Talavera actively started the match, several times dangerously counterattacked and forced Andrii Lunin to enter the game. Real possessed the ball, but could not break the opponent’s defense for a long time. The score was opened only in the 41st minute — Kylian Mbappe scored a penalty after a handball in the penalty area. And already in the compensated time before the first half, the advantage of Madrid was doubled by Manuel Farrando’s own goal.

In the second half, Talavera did not give up and reduced the gap in the 80th minute: Nauel Arroyo blocked a cross from the wing, returning intrigue to the match. However, the sensation did not happen – in eight minutes, Mbappe took advantage of Aurelien Tchuameni’s pass and scored a double.

It would seem that was all, but Talavera made itself felt in the compensated time – Gonzalo Ignacio Di Renso had the last word, but it did not affect the final result.

The 3-2 victory allowed Real to step into the round of 16 of the Spanish Cup, while Talavera, despite being relegated, left a very worthy impression against one of the strongest clubs in Europe.
