The central defender has signed a contract that will last until June 2031. This decision marks a complete turn in the career of a player whose future at the club a year and a half ago looked uncertain.
Garcia’s road to recognition was thorny. After returning from Manchester City in 2021, he faced adjustment difficulties and fan pressure, becoming something of a scapegoat for the team’s defensive failings. The turning point was a loan to Girona, where Eric helped the team sensationally enter the Champions League.
Back in 2024, García showed mature play, versatility, the ability to cover the defensive position and La Masia’s signature first pass, earning the full confidence of the coaching staff.
The football player himself called this event a dream come true on the third attempt.
