Ajax is in the final stages of a deal to sign former London Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu as a free agent. This is reported by journalists Sohei Baba and Fabrizio Romano.

The 27-year-old Japanese defender has already agreed terms on a short-term contract with the Eredivisie representative until June 2026.

It is noted that Tomiyasu must undergo a medical examination in the near future, after which he will officially join the Amsterdam club.

Previously, Milan and Brighton were interested in the player, but he chose to move to Ajax, where he will be reunited with his partner in the Japanese national team, Ko Itakura. The deal can be extended in the summer of 2026 if Tomiyasu shows a convincing level this season.
