The head coach of Napoli, Antonio Conte, commented on his team’s victory in the 1/8 final match of the Italian Cup against Cagliari (1:1) in a series of post-match penalties.

“It was an endless penalty shootout, but we needed a penalty shootout like against Modena last season. This shootout was much more difficult because all the players made very good shots and it was not easy for the goalkeepers. In the end, the team that deserved it more went through.

It’s a shame we conceded a goal due to a poor ricochet from McTominay, but I saw a good reaction from everyone. We know that we are not enough right now, but we need to continue to play and give our best with the opportunities we have.

Sometimes you have to make certain decisions. We did the same against Lazio and we needed to see certain players from the start. We play every three days and the same players can’t do it all the time. I’m happy with the answers we got and we knew it was going to be tough. Everyone feels a huge responsibility and we do what we have to do. I’m happy about that,” Football-Italia quoted Conte as saying.
