Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has spoken about the situation surrounding attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott, who is not getting enough playing time and could return from his loan spell at Liverpool as early as January, as previously reported.

The Spaniard noted that the decision will be made later, and the 22-year-old football player himself remains an important part of his team.

“Harvey is one of our players and hopefully he can help us. Then we will decide.

There are simply other players who perform very well. This is the main reason,” the specialist is quoted as saying The Athletic.

Harvey Elliott was named the Euro 2025 U-21 Player of the Year last summer, but his path to consistent practice at Villa is looking extremely difficult at the moment.

Since joining the Lions camp on loan with the option to buy for £30-35m, the Englishman has played 174 minutes in seven matches in all competitions, scoring one goal.
